Album: Koocheh

The concept of "Koocheh" as a complete CD began in May of 2000 when Valentina Stein, Mahavash's friend for many years, invited her to record some songs at her sons' studio in Carlsbad, California. After meeting with Eric Stein and discussing the details of the "Koocheh" project, Mahvash, guitarist / arranger Baharam Nazardad and Eric began recording at the Stein Brothers Music Studios in June of 2000. Initially three songs arranged by Baharam were recorded. Subsequently, six songs arranged by Eric were recorded and the project was completed in July of 2001. "Koocheh" offers an innovative approach to contemporary Iranian music. It represents an evolving musical journey of two artists from diverse cultural backgrounds and their discovery of an alluring musical style that speaks a universal language inviting many emotions and capturing many hearts. "Koocheh is a space where memories, dreams and desires shimmer and glow enticingly through memorable melodies, lively rhythms and enduring lyrics that are rooted in the rich Iranian poetry. Eric's rich string arrangements played by his brothers, renowned musicians Edmund on the violin and Rudolph on the cello enhance the original musical idea discovered by Mahvash and Eric.
